Methane and Carbon Monoxide Gas Detector

The gas detection device is capable of signalling the presence in the environment of combustible gas such as methane (CH4) and toxic gas such as carbon monoxide (CO).

The device is defined as type ‘B’ by standards CEI EN 50194-1 and CEI EN 50291, i.e. it provides a visual and acoustic alarm.

In the event of the presence of methane or monoxide gas, the device immediately activates the RED LED light and the local buzzer.

Signalling LEDs

GREEN signal: must always be on and indicates the correct power supply of the device

RED signal: indicates the alarm condition and therefore the presence of Methane or Carbon Monoxide gas in the environment

METHANE GAS = one flash every two seconds

CARBON MONOXIDE = two flashes every two seconds

YELLOW signal: indicates a malfunction of the detector

The detector consists internally of two devices:

- Code 9145-CH4 for the detection of combustible gas type CH4, compliant with standard CEI EN 50194-1

- Code 9145-CO for the detection of toxic gas type CO.

Technical features

  • Power supply: 230Vac 50Hz
  • Maximum absorption from mains: 25mA
  • Insulation: class II
  • Degree of protection: IP42
  • Operating temperature range: 0° to +40°C
  • Humidity range from 30% r.h. to 90% r.h.
  • Alarm signalling when the concentration of methane gas is between 3% and 20% of the lower explosive limit (L.I.E.); calibration value 9% of the L.I.E. (the threshold value is defined in accordance with paragraph 4.3 of EN 50194-1 together with the permitted tolerances)
  • Alarm signalling when the concentration of monoxide gas is present in the environment in the following quantities

       - 30ppm no alarm

       - 100ppm present for between 10 and 40 minutes

       - 300ppm present for a time of less than 6 minutes

  • Beeper sound pressure: minimum 85dB (A) at 1m
  • Self-diagnosis of the electronics: constant check of the functioning of the electrical circuit and signalling of any faults
  • Expected life of the device in operation 5 years. After this date consult the supplier for replacement of the device.
